The research department at Pain Diagnostics and Interventional Care has flourished since its inception in 2017. With the help of our fantastic patients, we have been fortunate enough to take part in furthering the understanding and efficacy of complex treatment options such as spinal cord stimulation (SCS) and radiofrequency ablation (RFA). As a private practice in a region dominated by large healthcare systems, we are incredibly proud of our ability to contribute greatly to the field of Pain Management. We are honored to state that our research department contributes more to the field of Pain Management than any other healthcare system in our region. Avanos: Internet of Things (IoT)

Avanos is conducting this feasibility study to assess remote data collection via an Internet of Things (IoT) Smart Tablet for their commercially approved COOLIEF radiofrequency ablation system. The data will be utilized to develop innovative technologies to improve pain relief from the RFA procedure.

Boston Scientific is conducting this study to compile real-world outcomes of commercially approved Boston Scientific radiofrequency (RF) ablation systems in the treatment of patients diagnosed with pain.

Coolief Cooled Radiofrequency vs. Standard Radiofrequency to manage Chronic Facetogenic Low Back Pain

Coolief Cooled Radiofrequency vs. Conventional Radiofrequency to manage OA Knee Pain

Avanos is conducting this study to assess the relative effectiveness of genicular nerve ablation with the COOLIEF* Cooled Radiofrequency probe to manage moderate to severe knee pain in patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee when compared to radiofrequency ablation using a Standard Radiofrequency probe.

Prospective Clinical Trial of Duty-Cycled Stimulation using the Senza Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) System

Nevro researchers are conducting this study to evaluate a type of stimulation programming called “Duty Cycling” in patients with an existing Nevro SenzaTM Spinal Cord Stimulation system. In Duty Cycling, the stimulation is cycled between brief states of ‘ON’ and ‘OFF’, which allows for a reduction in battery recharging time. Researchers are aiming to determine if Duty Cycling can reduce the amount of recharging time while continuing to deliver safe and effective pain relief.

TARGET Study- Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) stimulation for the Treatment of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

Abbott, formerly St. Jude Medical, is conducting a phase IV, post-market, clinical trial for DRG stimulation. The therapy is FDA approved for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), formerly known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD).

The phase III clinical trial, known as the ACCURATE study, showed that DRG stimulation was effective in 93.3% of patients.

Vectors Post Market: A study to assess Pain Relief using Spinal Cord Stimulation

Medtronic is conducting a study to evaluate the efficacy of spinal cord stimulation (SCS) therapy for low back and leg pain relief using high dose (HD) stimulation parameters delivered to neural targets identified during current commercial trial stimulation procedures.

This is a prospective, single-arm, multi-center study.

Stimgenics Open-Label, Post Market Study (SGX-SCS-RCT)

Stimgenics is conducted an open-label, post market study to assess the efficacy of new programming parameters compared to standard programming parameters using Medtronic’s IntellisTM Spinal Cord Stimulator device for individuals with chronic, intractable low back and leg pain.
